Competent Person Scheme System
The National Association of Periodic Inspectors and Testers (NAPIT) has been raising standards in the electrical industry sector since the early 1990s.
Over the years the remarkable success and scope that NAPIT has demonstrated as an organisation has had considerable benefit to the electrical industry sector, NAPIT installers and the general public.
Following the introduction of Part P of the Building Regulations NAPIT was awarded a government license to operate a Competent Person’s Scheme (CPS). NAPIT’s scope of approval now includes Schemes within the Electrical, Plumbing, Heating and Ventilation sectors.
NAPIT needed an IT system to enable all registered installers to notify Building Control of each installation; dispatch homeowner certificates; track the assessment process of members and run a number of other administrative functions for the association.
Working closely with each department at NAPIT, Borough IT created a system that fulfilled immediate requirements of the scheme, giving NAPIT instant relief against pressure on the administration department.
Due to the high levels of demand for the NAPIT scheme, Borough IT built in sufficient scalability to allow the IT infrastructure to keep pace with the success of the company.
NAPIT felt the benefits immediately and were delighted with the speed of uptake from their installers who were quick to use the convenient system.
Several years later, the system designed by Borough IT is still operational, although it has evolved a great deal in line with the activities of this progressive organisation. NAPIT still works with Borough IT on a number of projects and has even awarded us their Customer Service Award for excellence.
