Hello and Welcome back!
Wow! May has been a busy one and June is shaping up to be even busier… I hope you all had fun at the FIT Show 2019?
Sorry this is a little later than predicted, FIT was such a great event for the glazing industry, I didn’t want to wait a month to report on it.
We welcomed some new members to FENSA and GGF, there was lots of interest in Borough IT, GGFi, RISA and BFRC. I was there, I saw it first-hand! The stands, the energy and the commitment of all the companies involved a real mecca for the glazing industry. A very special congratulations must go to Profine – Kommerling UK, their stand won an award for “Best FIT Show 2019 Creative Marketing Campaign.” Well done Gareth, Brian and the team!
Nestled amongst the stands various seminars and talks were educating and informing members of the industry around new ideas, concepts and opportunities. Our very own Kevin Buckley GGF’s CEO opened proceedings with a speech about how the glazing industry has evolved over the years. Thanks for the insights Kevin, I had no idea GGF had been around (in various guises) for so long.
Late night Tuesday was a huge hit, the GGF stand was buzzing! We went retro with a star of the late 90’s and early 00’s. The SNES was on and rang out with classics such as Mario Kart and Street Fighter 2. Throw in an ice cold beer and we’ve got a winning formula! K.O!
Unfortunately I couldn’t make the gala dinner, I returned home for a game of scrabble with the wife. After the excitement of the show this was a great way to wind down…
After the gala dinner, Thursday was a fairly sombre affair as visitors and exhibitors nursed their poorly heads. I was formerly introduced to Harry
Deals were struck, partnerships were formed a cracking show and congratulations must go to Paul and the team at FIT Events Ltd. and the NEC. A truly epic event!
My team and I completed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge, another one under the belt! We saw some truly magnificent scenery and completed the walk in under 8 hours… Our official time was 10 hours 20 minutes, however pictures had to be taken of the breath-taking views encountered on the trip. I had no idea at the time that we spent 2 hours snapping pics… but, hey, we made it in the allotted 12 hours. We managed to raise over £300 for our charity LoveBrum. Next stop, Jurassic Coast 2020, approximately 75 Miles of rugged coastal paths, watch this space for more news.
We will be covering one of our first serious articles, a customer self-service website, dream or reality? Where will I be spending sunny July in out and about and we’ll see what’s on the horizon for the GGF Groups charity efforts in charity news. Don’t miss it, thanks for reading!
